Privacy Policy
We collect what we need to run and improve Hypermaps. We do not sell personal data.
1. Who we are
Hypermaps builds source-linked maps for communities. For privacy questions or requests, use the email address in the footer.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
If you complete our onboarding survey, we collect what brought you to Hypermaps, what you were hoping to find, the page you came from and submission timestamps.
If you sign in with Google, we receive and store your Google account identifier, email address, first and last name, and profile picture. Only your first name is ever shown to other people.
Cookies
Signing in sets one encrypted cookie so we can keep you signed in for about thirty days. It is required for sign-in to work and is cleared when you sign out. We set no other cookies.
Technical information
Our hosting and infrastructure providers may process standard request data such as IP address, browser or device details, requested pages and timestamps to deliver, protect and troubleshoot the service.
On the Hypermaps home page, MaxMind may derive an approximate city from your IP address so we can suggest a nearby mapped city. This is not precise location tracking, the suggestion is optional, and we do not automatically redirect you.
Maps and external services
Loading maps or fonts can send technical request data to OpenFreeMap or Google Fonts. Our map tiles use OpenStreetMap-derived data. If you follow our booking link, Cal.com receives information under its own privacy policy.
If you choose to measure a place’s wifi speed, your browser downloads test data from Cloudflare and Cloudflare records the result for its own aggregate reporting on internet quality. It runs only when you tap the button, it moves about 15MB, and nothing about you or the place is sent with it. Skip it and type a figure yourself if you would rather not.
3. How we use information
- to operate, secure and troubleshoot Hypermaps;
- to save early-access and product-research responses;
- to create your account, keep you signed in and show your name to you;
- to decide which cities, communities and features to build;
- to respond to requests; and
- to comply with law and protect our users and service.
Where applicable, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating and improving the service, and on legal obligations.
4. When information is shared
We use service providers to run Hypermaps, including Vercel for hosting, MaxMind for approximate IP location, Neon for database storage, CARTO for map tiles, and Google for fonts and, if you choose it, for signing you in. They process information for us or when your browser requests their services. Cal.com is separate and only receives information if you visit or book through it.
We may also disclose information when legally required, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transaction. We do not sell personal information or use it for behavioural advertising.
5. Retention and security
We keep survey and contact information only while it is useful for the purposes above, then delete or anonymise it. Provider logs follow each provider’s retention settings. You can ask us to delete your information sooner.
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no online service can promise absolute security.
6. International processing
Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or export your personal information, or object to certain processing. You can ask us to delete your account at any time, and complain to your local data-protection authority.
We do not currently use advertising cookies or cross-site behavioural tracking. If that changes, we will update this policy and provide any choices required by law.
8. Children and changes
Hypermaps is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. We may update this policy as the service changes; the effective date above shows the latest version.
